Beautiful historic trail. Went backpacking with my wife and 4 kids. Nice camp site on the north side of the river. Fewer mosquitoes. Lots of elevation change. Hard on the knees on the way in and hard climb on the way out. Blackberry bushes can be tricky to navigate in spring/summer. Lots of wildlife. Saw bears and one mountain lion. Probably close to 100 water snakes. They actually got pretty aggressive in the late afternoon. Cool small waterfall flows into a nice swimming hole. Try swimming under the waterfall.
