We stayed here in July of 2023 and I have been thinking about rating and reviewing this place since.
The pros: beautiful grounds, nice bathroom and shower room, nice playground for the kids and a nice big green grassy area to play volleyball, etc.
We had a lovely time every single evening after our vacationing days enjoying the green grass and playing Frisbee. We were basically the only ones on the playground every single night.
On our last night here, the owner let a bunch of tents set up all over the grass, so we couldn't use it. It felt VERY deliberate. Continue reading to see why .
The cons: you are packed in like sardines, don't expect any privacy. But we knew this.... so why the low rating?
We enjoy using the bath and shower provided where we stay since we are a large family, and it is nice to have a shower in a bigger area. .... so we went to the bathhouse one night, and I am sorry if I missed any sign that said you aren't allowed to turn on the lights (🙄 eye roll), but as I was taking a shower, the owner shows up and starts grilling my children "is their a reason you have the lights on?" .... um excuse me, yes, the lights are on because you have a book case and we were enjoying reading some magazines, and we didn't want to sit in the dark (oh excuse me one tiny lamp is allowed to me on, so not *complete* darkness).
"We keep the lights off because it attracts bugs, so you need to turn off the lights."
I don't know. This just rubbed my fur the wrong way. My kids have to sit in the dark and we aren't allowed to use the lights in the bathhouse? And I really didn't like the attitude he had with my kids. Would he have reacted the same way if I had been out there? Probably. Keeping bugs out of his bathhouse is a lot more important than feeling comfortable in his bathhouse, my fellow travelers. I wonder if he knew I was listening to him from the shower, but alas, I was showering. If he has gotten any ruder, I would have came out in a towel. 😡. But my kids just listened and turned off the lights and sat in the dark.
The owner also lives on the property in a camper, just an FYI. He will be watching you, and we tried to wave at him daily, and he would turn his back on us.
It just felt like he didn't like us because we had so many kids, even though my kids are very well behaved. ... so if you have kids I would highly recommend you find a DIFFERENT place to stay. This place is not it.
It is also right on the highway with lots of noise and traffic AND an infernal sign flashing neon lights all night long.
PLEASE think twice about staying here. We personally will not ever stay here again. Thank you for your time.
