I waited a week after our trip to write this review, so that way I wasn’t just posting out of frustration.
From check in, the employees seemed more concerned with their conversation than helping explain anything. The site we booked was actually quite large, I was happily surprised with that.
The pool: Our first day at the pool was a Thursday. First impression was it was not well maintained at all. The cement around the edges were cracked and uneven. From one of the seasonal families at the pool, they were told last year that their rates were being increased because they were building a new pool area this year. But so far, they haven’t talked about the new pool.
Inside the current pool was dirty. Sand at filled the bottom, which I get with the nearby playground. But there was also floating bugs, paper, and leaves in the pool. When we got out the first day, I told staff about the floating things in the pool. She assured me that the pool is cleaned daily at 8am.
Not only was the pool not clean the next day, but I didn’t see an employee in the pool area until someone’s child had cut their hand open on one of the slides. They shut the slides down immediately, which I understand, but the kids didn’t. The employee was very rude to kids who were just trying to go down the slides.
We stayed until Sunday and not once were the pools cleaned.
Service: We understand the need for rules and being safe. But with the bouncing pillow we got there and read the sign that said no shoes. We jumped on it as a family but an employee came and was unpleasant talk with because we weren’t wearing socks. She said we need to read the sign. We showed her the sign that did not say we needed socks. But there was supposed to be a laminated paper that had fallen off saying socks are mandatory but it fell off as they only used tape to hold it on.
Saturday at the pool an employee told some kids to ask the front desk to start the inflatable water slide. He said they normally don’t do it until they have enough seasonal guests, but maybe they would since the pool was so full. It’s just kind of odd that you’re a paying guest but aren’t allowed the same opportunities if there aren’t enough seasonal guests.
Cost: The services provided there were actually quite affordable. The wood that they delivered to our site for free was much cheaper than comparable campsites. Even the ice cream and beer at the store were very reasonable considering the usual markup. But the price to stay there compared to campgrounds with better swimming facilities and entertainment, you’re not getting a good deal in my opinion.
Overall: The campground feels mismanaged, not enough emphasis on customer care/appreciation. I was surprised that telling them the pool was dirty changed nothing. If they do build a new pool area, then I would say the price could be worth it. But as it is now, we will not be returning.
