She Who Loves The World

Solid marketing concept; poor execution. My review relates to a reservation for camping. Arrival felt awkward. No staff or host on site after 5pm.

Walked property, asked other guests but had to reference the property map from an e-mail on my phone to locate the bathroom. Minimal signage. Facilities were located in the corner of the L shaped hotel building. Access code then down a short secluded hallway to two toilets and two showers for all of the campers (men and women combined) who occupied the 10 campsites. Odd that access to a random upper hotel room is also through the same hallway area below. One would think that a staff person would clean and re-stock supplies prior to end of shift but no toilet paper was provided. Lights are on motion sensors, so I had to wave my hand mid shampoo rinse when the light went out. Not a good vibe for a solo female traveler.

The 10 campsites are basically small wooden stalls with shared walls located at the edge of a hotel parking lot. Parking was limited and not all sites were level. Sites are automatically assigned during the reservation process. No way to change your location upon arrival. Minimal privacy. One of the two plastic Adirondack chairs in my site was cracked, twinkle lights were missing bulbs. Each site has a picnic table. Bark park is cute but small. Limited space to walk your dog so hotel guests gravitate toward the camp area. Hotel guests also came out and used the campsite next to mine for their pre-bedtime smoke break.

There is a nicely appointed gathering site in between the two hotel buildings and across from the tent camping. One group plus several solo people gathered there and were thankfully respectful of quiet hours at 10pm. I found it unsettling that they had a fire roaring beneath the boughs of dry evergreen trees in early September.

On a Thursday night, it was remarkably quiet between 10pm and 6am. After that all bets were off as the parking lot came to life for morning departures. Not a relaxing stay, not for me. On the plus side, cost and just a few miles into the charming downtown area.
