Visiting for the first time as a 12 year old my eyes were opened to something more, 6 years later I visited again after regularly hiking ever since and I still haven't found a more beautiful place anywhere on Earth. The view of the lake up close, from the ridge, and the view from the ridge overlooking the valley below is amazing. It's about a 20 mile hike round trip, 4 miles to Pete Lake (pretty flat with a need for bug spray) and 6 relatively easy uphill miles with an early river crossing to Spectacle Lake. Plenty of good views on the way up.
