A good stop for lunch while hiking the Northern Loop Trail. There are water sources right before you reach the lake. The shore of lake itself has been very muddy both times I’ve been there. Lots of animal tracks in the mud and lots of bugs (both were August trips) but still a great stop. Watch the birds there....they’ll be all over your equipment is you wander too far off.
