This is one of the many Park & Campground areas on the east side of Philpott Lake. It's open May 1 through September 30 for camping at one of the 49 camping sites, and you can still enter the park off-season to launch your boat, have a picnic or simply walk around the area.
There are 2 designated swimming areas - one has a long sandy beach and looks like it will be very nice once the crews clean up the winter debris. The other is smaller and has plenty of shade and some picnic tables. The boat launch has two lanes but probably only one boat should be launched at a time. No grassy area near the water to launch your canoe or kayak. Try Salt House Branch instead, it's very close to Horseshoe Point. There is a well built covered area for picnics - handicap friendly. There are also several single picnic areas right on the lake. Many of the campsites are sort of isolated and face the lake without obstruction. You can launch your kayak right from one of these sites. Good restroom facilities and even a dump station for RV's.
Very nice, well kept park overall. It's in a remote area so the number of visitors may be less than the other parks on Philpott. I rated as 4 stars only because the boat launch doesn't accommodate paddle boats well.
