Great adventure for hiking the paria canyon ! But take care about what rangers in visitor center just next to white house trailhead say. They just now nothing about how the trail is right now. Easy, they don’t ask people who have just finished it.

We ask how was the weather for the next days. He just answers « we never know ». Okay thank you ! A response « here is the forecast in the noaa website, and take care about the sky for clouds for flashflood because we never exactly know » should be perhaps better. And in my case the predictions were sunny all the time… and it was !

We ask about the pathway conditions. He answers « pretty bad with ankle deep pathway ». It was false for all the way. Really good condition from the 29th of May to 01th June, with knee deep at the maximum.

And finally you have to know that there are 3 springs. But before doing the trek we met 4 guys at the end at lees ferry who just finished it and saying that the second one, shower spring, was dry. We told it to the ranger and he didn’t care. Incredible ! It would have been very dangerous if we had thought about filling at this one. Consequently we did it in 3 days, sleeping close to the 1st and 3d springs.

Finally I would add that the springs are really hard to find, so take a gps with you ! And the last one, last reliable spring, was really faint the 31th may, so not sure it is okay now.

In conclusion try to take advises with hikers at the end of the trail if you want to hike this beautiful trek safely !
