There are two La Clocha campsites. La Clocha 1 is on a bluff with a good view of the Rio Grande River and the mountains. The area is primarily rock so if you are using a tent you will need a free-standing tent as driving stakes in the ground will be very difficult.
If you go to the end of the La Clocha Road past the turn for La Clocha 1 (LC1) campsite you will come to La Clocha 2 (LC2) campsite. It is located next to an arroyo or gulch. The north side of the campsite has a hill that offers good wind protection from north winds if camping in the winter. The ground is a fine dirt and sand and can be dusty to camp in. It has vegetation and some trees for shade. It is about 100 yards from the Rio Grande River. The river is easily accessible but there is no view of river from La Clocha 2 due to vegetation and river cane.
If there has been rain recently or if rain is in the forecast LC2 would be muddy and if there was a flash flood you might have to abandon the site.
The pictures in my review are LC2 campsite.
