DRSNA is a Texas TREASURE! I feel so grateful that it’s available for us to enjoy. The true gem of the park is the river, of course, which is beautifully pristine and wild. The treasure trove of flora and fauna and the beautiful crystal clear spring water gushing everywhere make it feel like a wonderful fairyland. It’s so amazing. The rest of the park is just as spectacular. The hills with sheer rock cliffs are so beautiful, the sky is so open - paired with the dark skies it provides AMAZING stargazing. If you lie down flat and look up, you truly feel the vastness of the sky. It’s super peaceful there and very remote - so quiet that I caught myself feeling so relaxed that I almost dozed off a couple of times. The perfect place to unplug from all of the outside world and just enjoy relaxing in pure nature. If you visit, please respect and protect this special place. Pack light, pack out all trash, and just enjoy the beauty of the land. I never wanted to leave.Oh, it’s SUPER hot and sunny with little to no shade. Bring more water than you think you need, wear sunscreen and cover your body, and sturdy shoes are needed for the hike to and from the river. I wore hiking boots for the hike and closed toe water shoes in and around the river. It’s pretty slippery. ;) Campsites are bare bones but fantastic!
