We have maintained a second home here year-round now for a year and a half. Our son and daughter-in-law attend grad school here, and we live about a twelve hour drive away. Nevertheless, we attempt to visit for a couple of weeks at a time, 6-8 times per year. We tired of hotels when visiting, so we moved our camper here year around.

I’m more of a “glamper” than a camper, so Hidden Creek RV Resort meets our needs well. One thing I wanted was a safe campground. This one is gated after 6pm. Additionally, the Bath/Laundry House building is open 24/7 and has reinforced bathroom/shower areas for tornado/severe storm protection. There is a pool table, ping pong table and a small exercise room with some nice machines as well. The baths/showers/laundry/exercise areas are kept very clean, as are the grounds which are mowed and trimmed regularly.

The concrete pads are long, level, and wide giving you a nice “patio” space and room to park a couple of vehicles. The roads are wide, too, making backing into your spot a little easier.

The pool area is large, clean, and inviting with a hot tub, shaded patio with tables and fans, outside restroom, TV, and other activities. There is a playground and play field. There is also a pond and nature walk area at the rear of the property. I included some photos taken there mid-April ‘23. The clubhouse is nice. I often walk down for a coffee or hot chocolate on my laundry days. During Aggie football season, they have nice, free events and food before the home games which we have really enjoyed. It’s fun getting to know the staff and other campers a bit better at these events.

There are also two nice dog run areas. Cabins can be rented here, too. I’ve only seen photos of the inside, but they look very nice. Garbage is picked up daily, and there is curbside propane pickup/refill.

A few things that don’t bother us, but others may want to know: This campground is on a major four lane highway and next to a small airport, and there’s noise from both at times. It can also be a bit challenging to drive out of the resort at high traffic times (4:00-7:00pm), but if you’re patient, a break in the traffic will come. If the noise might bother you, they have opened a new section further from the road you might like. There is not a lot of shade here yet, but trees are planted and growing, so someday! Book early for TAMU Football season (Aug-Dec) since it really fills up on those weekends! This campground is a bit more expensive, but the amenities are very nice. We have looked at many other campgrounds, and what we’ve seen out there doesn’t compare to Hidden Creek.
