I think Picacho Peak was very cool. They have several trails but I decided to go for it and climes Hunters Trail. I am out of shape but I made it to the top. All the recommended items for this trail are NECESSARY!! Gloves, boots, water, Sun screen and PROTEIN ! It’s only 2 miles up but it treacherous. You will be using upper and lower body strength. You will be climbing up hill and have to pull yourself up. Making it to the top is all worth it. The feeling of accomplishment is truly worth it.
If you’re like me, you’ll be to tired to climb your way back up the saddle so we took an adjacent trail SUNSET, which takes you down the back side of the mountain and a completely around to the RV camp. It takes longer but it’s less straining. It’s also very scenic and we had the opportunity to watch the sunset. Not sure if I’d ever do this again but I’m proud I did.
