North Prong Primitive sight is one of the few true camping sights in the park. There is no water, electricity, awnings or fire rings like in some of the other camping sights. You must hike in a little over half a mile from the parking spot with all gear and supplies. This is the desert which can be windy and fluctuate between hot or cold weather at any given time. I recommend checking the weather and packing accordingly. Over all the weather there was beautiful.

Many hike the trail, however there are few who set up camp there. This can be a pro or a con dependent on your comfort and experience level. Remember, there are wild animals out there so pick a spot which gives you the advantage from them, the weather, and don't leave food containers open or out to attract them. Guns are not authorized at the park, however hunting knives and long flashlights may provide you with some level of security. At night, the sky is void of light pollution and is beautifully lit up by the planets, stars, and many constellations can be seen.
