About Campground

The historic Meadows Guard Station is a quiet hideaway beneath tall pines, where deer graze in the open meadow pasture nearby. Located 29 miles from Alpine, the cabin allows horses and provides corrals. Built in 1933 by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), the cabin presents a year-round backcountry playground for activities like horseback riding, fishing, off-road vehicle riding and snowmobiling. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, guests have the convenience of a shower and flush toilet. Horse corrals are available, but horses cannot be turned out into the pasture. Recreation Greys River is nearby, offering pleasing fishing opportunities. Hiking, off-road vehicle riding, horseback riding and mountain biking are popular summer activities. Snowmobiling and cross-country skiing are excellent winter activities. Facilities The rustic two-room guard station sleeps six people on three sets of bunkbeds with mattresses. Parking accommodates a maximum of one RV or trailer. The cabin has running water, a flush toilet and shower, but these are only available from approximately Memorial Day to Labor Day. No electricity is available, but a propane refrigerator, lights and cooktop are provided along with a wood stove for heat. The kitchen also has a sink and a table with chairs. Water is only available from late May to early September. Outside these dates, guests must bring their own drinking water. Cooking and eating utensils are not provided. Other recommended items to bring include food, bedding, flashlights, toilet paper, garbage bags, dish soap and cleaning products like bleach or disinfectant. Do not use the adjacent pasture for personal horses. Natural Features The cabin sits in a shady, wooded area in the valley of Greys River. Meadow Creek runs beside the cabin. Moose, elk, eagles, and sandhill cranes are among the wildlife likely to be seen. An abundance of wildflowers color the landscape in summer. The Bridger-Teton National Forest offers more than 3.4 million acres of public lands for outdoor recreation. With its pristine watersheds, abundant wildlife and immense wildlands, the forest comprises a large part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, the largest intact ecosystem in the lower 48 United States. Nearby Attractions The nearest grocery store is in Alpine, about 29 miles north of the cabin. ADA Access: N

A very clean and cozy cabin. Chris was wonderful in helping us with cool places to see and the price of the cabin was reasonable. This cabin provided a quiet and peaceful environment and we plan on staying there again! Highly recommend!!

This is my "go-to" snowmobile destination! I've been staying here for many years and it has only gotten better! The Snowmobiling is also the best for off-trail ridding! (The mountain scenery is just gorgeous)! The cabins have been updated in the last few years too. I would highly recommend "Mountain Meadows Cabins" to anyone venturing to this area!

Michelle, Chris, and Colin were so helpful and hospitable! The cabin was great and clean and there was plenty of room! Cabin 2 could've slept 8, but we had 5. Cable TV when you want to watch it. Firepit right out front. We saw moose in the area, and our boys enjoyed checking out the area around us. We will definitely be back!

They were able to squeeze me in last minute for a cabin for my wedding. Stayed in cabin #1 and loved it. The simple nature of this place is exactly what I wanted, and the cabin is so quiet at night. The owner was gracious enough to work with my wife and I to give us a little extra time in the morning to change from our wedding before checking out. I would recommend to anybody staying in the Snowy Range mountains to stay here.

This is my second time at Mountain Meadows Cabins. My friend has been going there off and on for the last 13 years. The scenery of the snowy mountains is just breathtaking. The mirror lakes are beautiful in the early morning hours and look like mirrors. The owners of the cabins are very nice and helpful. Their 2 dogs that greet you are so friendly. Must visit this place
