Amenities include two vault toilet, picnic tables, and cook grates. Potable water is not available. The nearby Louis Lake Boating and Picnic Site includes a boat ramp, vault toilet, picnic tables, and cook grates.
From Lander, go south on State Highway 28 for 34.5 miles to historic South Pass. Go north on Forest Road 300 (right before South Pass City) 7.5 miles to the campground
A fantastic little rustic campground right on Louis Lake. As a local I highly recommend a night or two here, it's just a beautiful place to stay.
Amazing place and amenities. We had a blast and highly recommend. Easy drive from Lander.
It is a really nice campground if you can find a spot to park your trailer or camper. Louis Lake has a great sandy beach on one side of it. Great place to take your kids to play or just Sun tan if you do that. During peak summer hours the lake and the campgrounds are packed. Pick a time other than holidays because your chances of getting a spot is not very likely. Good fishing sometimes and you occasionally see a moose or two. There is a resident Osprey that is always snatching fish out of the lake. It's a very unique experience if you have never witnessed it.
The only problem is that people will run their generators late at night and early in the morning.
An absolute blast, the grounds manager was amazingly helpful for every little question we had. He even helped us out when our car battery died.
