Fossil Butte was an excellent stop!

They have a really cool drive/walk through timeline of the geological history of the Earth outside. On the inside, they had some interesting fossils on displayed.

The ranger was doing a live-feed "field trip" with a classroom which was really cool because we were able to listen in on additional information about the exhibits.

We took the scenic drive and drove up to enjoy the incredible views.

We would definitely recommend this as a quick stop if you're into geology and fossils.

Nice visitor center and displays. However, no campground and at my visit the scenic loop road closed...so a long way on very remote WY roads thru Oil and Gas land for a short visit.

This place has best preserve 50 million years old fossils in the world, fishes cocodriles, horses!!! Seeds!! Everything! Very well preserve, you must to visit and see this wonderful place! Tour guide is so nice, he showed us some amazing pieces from the laboratory! We visit the quarry, but it's most better to visit in summer obviously!! But we could see fossil inside of the quarry, some fishes!! Beautiful place!!

Really cool monument, make sure to read the signs on the way in, as well on the walk way to the center, its a fasinating history of the world. It is always amazing what you see and learn at many of the national monuments and this one is no exception.

If you are in the area, you really should stop by.

This national monument is a treasure. The visitor center is staffed with knowledgeable and enthusiastic rangers, and a great fossil exhibit. Be sure to check out the bathroom for even more fossils. The”age of earth in inches” exhibit starts soon after you enter the monument line, so be sure to check out the signs on the right side of the road going in!

There is a gravel road past the nature trail (which is lovely) that I look forward to checking out the next time I come through.
