Kyle and the entire staff at Woodlands is phenomenal! They go above and beyond to make sure you have everything in your cabins, everything you need for fishing, and Most importantly make sure you have safe travel on the ice. Kyle Always greet you with welcome home. They truly make it feel like home!!!

Bought the ice house package for two days. 4 guys caught absolutely zero fish... Marked absolutely zero fish with high tech gear... I've been fishing for 40 years, so I understand fishing, and I understand that bite can be slow, but I felt that Woodland came across with an "oh well, sorry" attitude, and could have done more to put us on some actual fish. 14 hour drive for an expensive, huge disappointment.

We stayed 5 nights and fished for 4 1/2 days in a cabin. The cabin was good and cozy. Two bedrooms with 2 beds per room and 1 bathroom. The fishing was slow the first 2 days but picked up and they did everything in their abilities to make sure we caught fish. The fish houses are all heated and they do come and check on you periodically. All of the guys that came out to check on us shared tips and tricks on how to catch fish but the older gentleman in the bait shop had the best tips as they all worked. Considering everything I would recommend this place if you were planning a fishing trip to Devil's lake.

Ice fishing

Tip#1 dead stick

Light weight with about a 4"to 6" space tied to a small gold hook with a live minnow on it. Place about 6" to 12" off the bottom or above the weeds.

Tip#2 jigging

Bright pink or gold jigging spoon tipped with a minnow head and bang it off the bottom for a bit to bring in fish.

Doing these things together helped us a lot.

Every time I have stayed here, It has been a blast! Brought the family for the first time last summer and caught a whole lot of walleye, the kids had a great time catching walleye, and they allowed us to have our dog! Prices are super reasonable especially if you stay in just the little motel. If you want luxury, they have that as well. The Bar is amazing top with outstanding service, unique food, and live music. Woodland resort is the Best resort in North Dakota. No question.

My first trip to Woodland Resort was for business last year. It was an amazing experience and I could not wait to go back. Here we are again, but for vacation. My family and I met up with some friends and went on an ice fishing adventure. Woodlands is the perfect location and has everything you need in walking distance. The staff is so accommodating and they make you feel so welcome. The location, staff, accommodations, food, and lodging are all 5 stars!
