Had a great time camping with two of my grandkids will be back next weekend
Great place to camp. Small fee. Great place to swim, canoe, fish on the river. In the summer there is usually a and bar to hang out on. Good place to take kids to enjoy kids but be careful along the river and sand bar. It drops off fast.
This place has some of the biggest sites in wisconsin. Every site has a bathroom that is accessible by a very short walk. The E.C. river is also a short walk from the sites. There's a spring fed creek that flows into the river here creating one of the deepest holes on the river. Great place for muskie and walley. The spring fed creek is usually no deeper than knee deep. There's a huge pavilion area with a semi playground for children and just above that through a trail uphill there's a backfield with bleachers.
Solo bike trip, over 1200 miles total. Stopped for the night. No fire wood on sight, I had to ride my bike into town and carry fire wood back between my legs and on the gas tank of my bike. Very quiet and minimalist sites. But when you're looking for a nice country wooded campsite with water near by, this place is great. Have always liked camping here.
The clay feature was a surprising, added bonus!! 💝 I made a clay bowl and left it in the weeds to dry. I wonder if it's still there?! I love the clay creek!! The sand is soft and white. This spot has a lot of great features. When we were there, there was also a small rope swing for kids tucked away in the corner..
