Let us be your base-camp when you come to enjoy the Gilbert or any of our local attractions. We are family-owned since 2004 and provide a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of open space so you can roam about. We offer the best camping value in Gilbert!
There are 22 drive-through, full-hookup sites for large campers or RV's with lots that are 75 feet long. We also have 17 individual back-in sites that are between 40-70 feet. These are all great spots to set up camp while you explore the Mesabi Iron Range. Each site includes a fire pit and picnic table, plus 20, 30 or 50 amp electric. Many of our back-in sites have water and sewer.
We have four exclusive tent sites, two group tent sites(up to four tents per group site) and eight additional tent/small camper sites bordering wooded areas. Some have electric and others are rustic. All tent sites have nearby water for cooking. Restrooms or porta-potties are just a short walk. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic tables.
Nice place, well set up. So close to the OHV park it's an awesome option. New owner seems pretty great, very interested in making it better for guests
2023 update. Owners have been working hard. Expanded electric, a shower house (not done yet), and a lot of site work. The upgrades are appreciated!
West Forty holds LGBTQ camping get-togethers! This is unique and awesome in Northern Minnesota. People get together at the pavilion, share stories and conversation by the campfire, and sing along. During the day people connect to enjoy the many activities in the area. There are tent sites here in addition to the RV sites. (This is for all the tent campers wondering.)
Outstanding accommodations and great prices. Very attentive staff. We were in tents in their back camping grounds, only complaint was that all the trees weren't suitable to my hammock setup, but it was a nice trip and I'd go back!
I was needing to get away for the weekend and wanted something secluded, but still wanted a working toilet lol. When my friend reached out about his family own campsite I had to check it out.
It was literally everything I could have asked for. We were far enough from other campers but within walking distance to a functional bathroom and a 4 min drive to the most beautiful clear beach I’ve ever seen in MN.
The hospitality was top notch too, because we were a little further away they delivered our ice and wood…not only that but they fogged the area so we could have a big free experience. I can’t tell you how amazing it was to sit out by the fire and not have to fight the Mosquitoes. The experience was beyond expectations and I can’t wait to visit the campsite again. Thank you to all those who made my trip one for the books and I will be recommending this campsite to everyone who is a little bit of a diva like me and needs some of the comforts of home.
This place was super nice. Very accommodating and not intrusive. We had a large group of 7/8 campers and a couple in tents. We had no problems and they kept us together and were there if things were needed. On site so full access at most times. Dog friendly too 🐾♥️
