About Campground

The Divide Lake Campground provides a northwoods camping experience in a small (only 3 sites) secluded campground located near many recreational opportunities. A walk-down canoe launch provides access to Divide Lake and its stocked trout population while Divide Lake Trail provides a 2 mile hike with benches and scenic overlooks. Other nearby lakes, a boat ramp, and a fishing pier give the camper even more chances to enjoy the outdoors. Of particular interest is the fact that FR 172 in this area is on the Laurentian Divide with waters on the Divide Lake side flowing to Lake Superior and those on the Tanner Lake side flowing north to Hudson’s Bay. Downloadable information and map.

Directions

At Isabella, MN 1 takes a sharp left. Instead of following MN 1, turn right onto Forest Road 172. Follow FR 172 for 4 1/4 miles to Divide Lake. The campground is on the right.

Decent tent pads, outhouse and garbage. The only downside is that everything is so close together. I wish there was more space between facilities so it would be more private. Good for families though.

Clean and remote with four spots. The bugs were terrible, but you have to expect that.

The campsites are beautiful. Site 1 is the best, if you can get it. We were there in July and the mosquitos are unbearable at night and in the morning. On or near the water they are better. The trail was very overgrown and a mosquito mosh pit due to it being summer. The water was clean clear and cold, just how we love it. Fall, I'm sure would be better but it was already chilly at night in July so pack warm:) Dumbbell lake is where the fishing pier was and of you don't mind another 12 miles down the road is hogback lake which is also great for fishing/trout/camping if divide lake is full.
