About Campground

Overview

Hood Park is located on Lake Wallula in eastern Washington. The lake is formed by McNary Lock and Dam on the Mid-Columbia River.

Lewis and Clark camped two miles downstream at the confluence of the Snake and Columbia Rivers, which is now the location of Sacajawea State Park.

Visitors enjoy camping, fishing, boating, hiking, picnicking and swimming.

Recreation

The lake provides great boating and swimming opportunities, and a boat ramp is provided for guests.

Fishing is also a popular pastime, and anglers will find excellent salmon and steelhead fishing on the lake.

Facilities

Hood Park offers 67 family sites and one day-use group picnic shelter, all with electric hookups.

Natural Features

The campground is situated along the banks of the lake, offering sweeping views. Campers enjoy relaxing in the shade of the mature trees throughout the park.

Nearby Attractions

The McNary National Wildlife Refuge is adjacent to the park. It provides habitat for migrating waterfowl, bald eagles, shorebirds and other wildlife. Nature trails and an environmental learning center are open to the public.

Directions

From Pasco, Washington, take Highway 12 east. After crossing the Snake River Bridge, take the next exit and continue to State Route 124. The park entrance is on the left just after the roundabout.

Beautiful park! HORRIBLE AMOUNT OF MOSQUITOS & EARWIGS 🤮 However the park attendants on duty were amazing! They were a very sweet older couple and helped us out when we needed it. But definitely sticking with my rating of one star due to the horrible itching we have from the terrible amount of mosquito bites my significant other and I have.

The park was excellently maintained and park staff was always on the grounds if you need to check in, check out, or anything you need help with. The bathrooms are cleaned daily. The shower has hot water and was very pleasant to use. There are many trees around to use for shade and the river is beautiful. There are nearby trails with tons of wild flowers and berries and birds.

Hood Park and Campground.

Park has a boat launch area and a small beach area. Plenty of picnic areas and big and small pavilions.

Campground has dump station. Both back in and pull through spots. It has a amphitheater where you can watch kid friendly movies on Saturday nights.

The restrooms and showers are cleaned every day between the checkout time and the checkin time so you are never bothered my the cleaning crew.

The price is $30 per site with electricity. No water hook ups. If you have the National Park Senior pass then it is only $15 per night. Very very clean. Playgrounds in both the park and the campground.

The sites are all hard surface.

This is not an ideal location. The Park is located right near a busy highway so traffic all night was very loud. Plus, ignorant or inconsiderate campers/ RVer's being loud all night and walking past with flashlights was not ideal. It was hard to get a good night sleep after driving a long ways. If you're able, I'd get a spot somewhere else if sleep is what you're looking for.

As far as Service goes, the Camp Host was amazing. We got in late, a little after 10, and he was there pretty much waiting for us and kept the gates open a little late just in case. Thank you so much for doing that! He was super nice and helpful!
