This campground offers one tent-only site.
From Chelan, travel south on Highway 97A for 3 miles. Turn right onto Southshore Road and go approximately 20 miles to Shady Pass Road #5900. Turn left up the Shady Pass Road, go approximately 18 miles. Handy Springs Campground is on the left.
Handy Springs Campground is ACTUALLY about 18 or 20 miles up in the mountains on primitive roads west of Lake Chelan from Twenty-five Mile Creek and was evidently incorrectly added to Google Maps prior to 2017 by someone not familiar with the area (someone had incorrectly pegged it as being within the city of Chelan where the US Ranger District Office is).
Anyway, as of August 2017, it seem the Google Maps listing has been corrected, yet earlier photos and reviews have become obsolete. And now I'll aim at correcting the Ranger Station map listing.
My three-star review is ONLY a guess based on my ancient memory of this campground's primitive condition in the early 1980s. I have not been there in decades, so am not qualified to judge the location condition, but imagine it is not far changed.
My son and I went motorcycle camping there about 1979 or 1980 but I have no current photos. Perhaps I'll venture back and take a 360-degree panorama set there later. ;)
