This is a great spot for a stop over. The place was quiet and clean. The road noise was minimal and the lake was pretty. Covered picnic tables and fire rings available. The downsides were: locked bathrooms, signs are old and can’t read them, no pay envelopes. Overall, $6/night was a good price for a rest area.

Beautiful, and ever better if you can go when it's cool out.

So many sites that were empty - it was beautiful. Even though you are right next to a highway it doesn't feel like it - quiet and peaceful. I was really surprised there was really nobody there. Don't just take the first right you see into the campsites though - keep following the road there are more below all with tables, pits and shade. Lizards were very cool /interesting. Clean toilets - bring toilet paper though and watch for all the spider webs.

Here are some current photos of Walker Lake. We drove through here three years ago, and the lake did not look so good. No salt ring exposed, and beautifully blue. Please check out the pictures.
