From US-127 Exit 194 at M-55, go east toward Houghton Lake, approximately 1/2 mile to the first stop light (old US-27). Turn left (North) and we are on the left about 1/2 mile. From I-75 Exit 227 at M-55, go west toward Houghton Lake, approximately 15 miles to old US-27. Turn right and we are on the left about 1/2 mile. We are across from the DNR boat ramp on old US-27.
This seems to be mainly an RV park, although they do have a primitive camping section, and they offer RV lots for tent campers that need/want electricity. Porta-john on site was very clean. They sell firewood at the office, but it is ridiculously over priced. They offer year round RV hook up which is nice for RVs but terrible for campers (I fought sleep all night due to hooting and hollering on one side of the park at all hours, and someones phone going off every 60 sec right behind us. This despite "quiet time" being at 10:30PM)
All in all, I would say its a nice RV park. Would not recommend camping here.
$35/night for water and electric campsite. This park has many seasonal campers that have water, electric, and sewer. Good size lots with a fire ring and picnic table at each. Also a rustic area for tents. Showers and flush toilets available. There's a playground and volleyball court. Campground is across the road from a boat launch that is a bit of a walk to get there, across a major road and along a swampy ditch. There were many sites available during the third week in August. There's a game room with a pool table and ping pong, however, it appeared to not be open. If you are looking for a place near Houghton Lake, MI check this place out; it's a quiet, family friendly campground.
We love coming here. It's family oriented. We normally come every summer, but did not make it this year. But we will definitely be coming again next year. We stay in the cabins. They are cute and comfortable. Any questions we had were answered. Fire wood was available and it's a cute trail to walk behind it.
The park has the basics for a decent price. No fancy amenities but thats ok. Everyone is very nice there. The bathrooms are old but very clean. Quite a few long term campers but also quite a few spots for daily summer campers. Right across the street from a boat launch which is helpful if you're planning to do any boating.
