Directions

The recommended way to the campground is by getting off I-64 at exit 261A and go West on Hampton Roads Center Pkw. For less than one mile to Hwy 600 or Big Bethel Rd. Then North about 1.5 miles on Big Bethel Rd to Saunders Rd. There is a traffic light there and you can only turn left. Turn left and go about 1/3 mile where the entrance to park is on the right hand side of the road at a sign "Hidden Road". The park is well indicated but there is a curve in the road just before you get to the entrance. Alternate directions are: I-64E to exit 258-us 17N-1 mile,rt on Harpersville rd 1 mile Park on left.

10 years ago we brought our 38 ft RV to Bethel Fam Camp which is affiliated with Langley AFB in Hampton VA. Our stay was a disaster! Many of the hookups were not working on the 50 amp sites, and trying to find someone who worked in the office was almost impossible! We rated them a 1 star, but that was only because the rating system wouldn’t allow us to give them 0 stars…

10 years later we decided to try again because we drove through and saw that the place looked cleaner! We called Melonie who is the current Coordinator of the facility and she was very pleasant and professional. She went out of her way to accommodate us, and returned calls when she said she would! We love this place now! It’s very serene and woodsy like camping should be (to us). They have all the basic amenities that the other military campgrounds have. Security monitors the area often which is nice. They’ve also installed several nice playground areas for the kids. One area even has a nice rock climbing wall! There are maintenance people who come around weekly to maintain neatness in the area as well. We gave Langley Fam Camp a well deserved 5 stars this time!👏🏼

A wonderful little hidden treasure. Centrally located, close, and near to all important historical attractions. This is our annual destination spot to visit family and to continue and explore Virginia. Nice shady area, which makes it tough on satellite. But, there is so much to see and do. You won't miss it.

I am writing this review with a heavy heart and a deep sense of disappointment after our recent experience with Bethal Camp RV Park. As an active duty military family, the last thing we needed was the kind of treatment and resolution we received from this establishment.

Our journey with Bethal Camp RV Park started in September when we made a reservation for a long-term stay from December to March. In the spirit of planning, we even went the extra mile and added ourselves to the waitlist in case an earlier slot became available. Little did we know that this seemingly responsible act would lead to a nightmare.

A few days before our intended arrival, we decided to scout the area and discuss which spot we would be allocated. To our surprise, the staff at Bethal Camp RV Park were equally surprised to see us. Why? Because, according to them, we had apparently canceled our reservation two weeks prior to our arrival. Imagine our shock, given that we had made no such cancellation.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Bethal Camp RV Park had randomly called a person, who had no knowledge of our long-term reservation, and that person unknowingly canceled our booking. To add insult to injury, the staff had the wrong phone number and even my last name was incorrectly recorded. Consequently, our spot was given away without any attempt to contact us directly.

What's more concerning is the park's attempt to negate responsibility for their actions. Initially confirming that they indeed canceled our reservation, they later changed their stance, asserting that we were only on the waitlist and never had a reservation. This conflicting information only adds to the frustration and highlights a lack of transparency and accountability.

While mistakes can happen in any business, it is the resolution that truly defines a company's professionalism. In our case, Bethal Camp RV Park fell woefully short. Despite their acknowledgment of the error, they only offered us a two-week stay as compensation for their gross negligence.

As active duty military personnel, we face numerous challenges and uncertainties on a daily basis. The least we expect from a campsite is reliability and professionalism, qualities sorely lacking at Bethal Camp RV Park. Their reliance on phone reservations and the apparent lack of attention to detail by their staff have proven to be a recipe for disaster.

I write this review not out of spite but as a cautionary tale for other military families who may consider Bethal Camp RV Park. The stress and frustration we experienced are not something any family, especially those in the military, should have to endure. In conclusion, I strongly advise against using this campsite in the future, as their unreliability, unprofessionalism, and attempts to deflect responsibility cast a shadow over what should have been a simple and stress-free experience for our family.

We needed to do a test run on our new camper. The folks camping around us were kind and helpful. We had a blast. The price was fantastic especially considering they have full hook ups. The campground feels like you aren't in the city anymore, aside from occasionally hearing the vehicles on the road. We have never had our own camper before, so the friendly neighbors were great when we had questions, and also just to hang out with.

The bathrooms are well lit and clean. I only saw one spider one day the whole week we were here. The laundry room has 2 washers, 2 dryers, a table for folding clothes and a rack for hanging clothes. You can pay with quarters or an app on your phone. They don't have a change machine. The water pressure in the restrooms is outstanding. The area is lovely with lots of trees and a lake nearby.
