My wife and I stayed one night at the Otter Lodge and it was excellent. It is close to the other two lodges, but far enough away that we felt isolated. The fire pit and grill are shared between the cabins, and we made use of them when no one else was there, but that's not a guarantee.
The cabin (one room with a bathroom and balcony) itself was clean and free of bugs, which was surprising because the property is tucked away in the woods. The jacuzzi on the balcony was great as well. Thunder Ridge is less commercialized and I think it is run solely by Susan, who helped us check in and provided a cart to lug our suitcases across the lawn to the cabin. She was very welcoming and kind and the breakfast muffins were a nice touch. Normally they would be baked by Susan herself, but unfortunately her oven had broken and hadn't been repaired yet.
Overall, it was a nice, isolated getaway, and close to lots of great spots in Hocking Hills. Can't beat the price either!
Awesome experience here. It was a little hard to find late at night but that's to be expected when out in the woods. The owner was very helpful and even stayed out late to meet us when we arrived. The Cabins are in the woods, so a few outdoor bugs are expected but I found that they were actually not very present. The showers were nice and the owner even baked us muffins every morning. Overall great experience and will be definitely returning in the future.
Most beautiful view. Husband got otter lodge for my birthday and it was beautiful secluded and the owners were so nice and personable. Susan’s muffins are my daughters favorite part! They were so yummy! So much to explore and the hot tub was super nice to relax in even when it was 3 degrees out! Community fire pit would definitely be nice in the spring/fall to gather round. We had a nice fire w snow on the ground lol highly recommend this stay. So peaceful and that’s what mattered to me . Thanks Susan and Micah.
The drive was pretty easy and we arrived without issue.Upon arrival we were met with the owner Susan whom lives on the property. She is super sweet and provides you with all you need even offering a cart to haul your bags.
We stayed in the Wolfs Den which is a quant little cabin set the furthest back into the wooded property. There is no TV nor WIFI in the cabin but its relaxing to just sit and listen to the multitude of birdsong. The cabin was nice and clean as was the whirlpool tub on back deck. It is very private. You will also receive muffins which were delicious
The only negative complaint is the beds matteress it is on the hard side so my partner and myself woke up with back pain but other than that it was a great little stay.
These cabins are super cute and cozy! We stayed in the birds nest which was perfect for two people. Susan was so sweet! She made us feel welcome and brought delicious muffins each morning. We definitely will be staying here again! :)
