***"The most incredible views in Colorado"***
Perched on the edge of a 2,000 ft canyon, surrounded by an aspen grove and jagged peaks, there is no equal.
In the beautiful Aspen grove and next to the ridge with canyon and mountain views. This is probably one of the most beautiful camp sites in all of Colorado.
Hike on the property, especially the Ridge Hike" that goes along the ridge, featuring rock outcroppings and jaw-dropping views.
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kids camped out on the property before and after he robbed his first bank, which is still located in Telluride. This is where the name comes from.
Please clean up after your pet and yourself. If there is dog or human waste of any kind of trash left behind, there will be a fee added to your reservation. Help keep the place pristine 😊
Type in "Flying Husky Trail, Placerville, CO 81430" into Google Maps or any GPS you prefer. Google Maps is the most accurate, though. Proceed through the private ranch sign, "Flying Husky Ranch." The driveway curves around and 4/10 of a mile after the ranch entrance, you'll notice two black poles on the left. That is the driveway. Take the driveway around and up to the Aspen Grove. Or you can park down below at the turn and take in incredible views of the canyon, Wilson Peak and all of Hastings Mesa.
Great panorama view. I thought I might have killed myself the first time trying to walk up this mountain. From the Ute Trail parking area, it looks like an easy walk. It’s about a mile and a half one way but I wasn’t prepared and was ignorant of the risks. I got caught between snow slides and Krumholtz and for a while I couldn’t find a path back down. I fell twice and nearly cracked my skull. It's easy to get dehydrated in the mountains. I ended up sipping water off of pool points in the tops of rocks. The second time I tried this was later in the year and I made it to the top of that pile of black basalt rock then down safely. I’ve been back a third time and see where someone has started a cairn on top. Be careful up there
Extremely beautiful! Cold as all could be. It was 90 in denver and when we got to 13,000 ft it was 30 or so and the wind was incredible!
Such a beautiful place! I also recommend driving up Old Fall River Road. It's amazing how fast the weather can change!
