Tamanos Mountain is a nice mountain to see from Sunrise Point Lookout.

A beautiful hike up through old growth Douglas Fir, Western Hemlock and Yellow Cedar. The spur up to Tamanos cuts off to the east about 3.8 miles from the Owyhigh Lakes trailhead. It’s another 1.2 miles and 1,400 ft of vertical up the footpath trail. Amazing views of Rainier and Adams present as you approach the saddle about 0.3 miles and 400 ft below the summit to the north. The views get better beyond the bragging rights of hitting the summit. From there you add views of Mt Baker, Glacier Peak, Chimacum and Mt Stuart. It’s 5.0 miles and 3,000 ft up from the trailhead. Enjoy!
