About Campground

Stillwell's Store and RV Park is located just north of Big Bend National Park, about 8 miles from the Persimmon Gap entrance. ****NOT LOCATED IN ANY TOWN, WE ARE 45 MILES SOUTH OF MARATHON**** The old-fashioned general store carries soft drinks, beer, ice, canned goods and regular gasoline. Our RV park features sites with full 30/50 amp hook-ups (electric, water and sewer), water and electric only sites, dry sites and tent sites. Stillwell is a practical campground with a lot of history, not a resort. Come enjoy the peace and quiet at Stillwell while exploring the nearby Big Bend National Park and Black Gap Wildlife Management Area. Given our ideal location, this is the perfect spot for stargazers, bird watchers and those just wanting to unplug for a bit. Whether it's for a short and or long-term stay, we hope to see you soon!

We do have limited WiFi at the store. The nearest cell phone service is about 15 miles away in BBNP. If technology is your top concern, this likely isn't the place for you.

My wife, dog, and I camped out at the Stillwell Store around Thanksgiving. It was a lovely site! No frills. The camp site we had was surrounded by native brush and sand, both of which helped block the wind! And we had a clear view of the South Texas night sky. We were able to see the Milky Way and hundreds of thousands of stars with just our eyes.

The campsite does not allow wood fires but you can bring charcoal or use a gas grill. The bathroom is attached to the store and a bit of a walk from the camp spots but easy enough if you plan for it. The main Big Bend entrance is ~10-15 minute drive away, which is very doable if you can't get a spot in the park.

Highly recommend and would happily stay there again.

This place is close to the park but at least an hour drive to Panther Junction. We pretty much had the place to ourselves for the week. We didn’t mind the drive because we preferred the privacy. Shower house was great. If you’re used to camping and using shower houses, you’ll be happy. If you prefer to be closer to the park and not drive 1+ hours daily, stay inside the park or Terlingua. We would stay here again.

For me, it was a nice and not expensive place to stay. The owner is very helpful. The shower and restroom is clean and has hot water, also there is wi-fi, laundromat and store. The distance from the park entrance is about 15 minutes by car.

Gravel lot for RV park. Laundromat is not clean nor are the shower stalls. Run down RV park. It is only 8 miles to the park entrance but a long way from most of the sightseeing. It is 78 miles to Santa Elena canyon and 50 miles to the hot springs area. Does have full hookups and water/electrical sites as well as tent camping and dry camping. The store is very expensive so make sure you have everything. Has Mountain views. Price of RV sites are reasonable.

Enjoyed my stay in RV Park camping. Was in the area hiking for a week during February. I would not call this a vacation resort, but it was quiet and very nice to have running water and a hot shower after spending all day out in a very remote desert. Not very many people here this time of year. The Stillwell Store has many items and Gasoline!!! (sorry, no diesel far as I could tell). The site price is reasonable and the WIFI reaches the campgrounds. I will return again someday.

I have read reviews where people say the staff was rude, but my experience was to treat them like decent human beings, and they treated me the same way.

Thank You Stillwell Store!
