In Leadville, CO, at north end of town off US Rt. 24, turn west at National Recreation Area Turquoise Lake sign (at Safeway - no street sign). Go 2.8 miles to a "T" intersection and Turquoise Lake Recreation Area sign (CO RD 9). Turn right at sign onto CO RD 9 and go 0.5 miles to another Turquoise Lake Recreation Area sign. Turn left, across railroad tracks, and go 0.5 miles to stop sign. Turn right at sign and go 0.9 miles to campground sign. Turn left at sign and go 0.5 miles to campground.
We have camped up here since 2000, it is convenient to go fishing. And they keep the restrooms clean. You can share a site for 2 tents which is nice since it is hard to reserve sites these days.
Father’s Day weekend 2023. Weather was lousy until Sunday. Great location for hiking, Mtn biking, SUPing and fishing (and of course camping). Camp hosts were very friendly and helpful. Views from lake in morning (calmest) are incredible. T-mobile has strong 5G but wife’s Verizon was spotty at best in Baby Doe and Turquoise Lake In general.
We love this campground. A lot of tree and shade. The restrooms clean. Really quiet and easy to go to the lake for fishing and paddle board. Not far from town(leadville)
We will be back and gonna be our favorite spot.
This was a great place to camp!! The park hosts are amazing. It's right on turquoise lake. We camped in a tent. There are lots of big campers that use this camp ground and they can get a little loud, but there was only one night were we could hear music past 10pm.
