Raven Cliff Falls camping
This trail is one of North Georgia’s most popular camping destinations. Trailhead campsites offer fantastic stream-side camping just steps from the car, and a fantastic base camp for hiking the Raven Cliff Falls Trail during the day. The trail is also dotted with many backpacking campsites on the creek’s level banks, offering a little more solitude for campers willing to backpack it in.
Black bears frequent this wilderness area. Keep all food items and fragrant cosmetics out of reach in a bear canister: many years ago, we lost our camp stove, food and cookware to a trio of bears in a traditionally-hung bear bag along this trail.
Campsites are free and first-come, first-claimed. Pack out everything you pack in: this is one of Georgia’s most beautiful Wilderness areas, so please, please leave no trace. (What is Wilderness, and why is it important? Read more in our guide to Wilderness areas in the South.)
The hike was long, but worth it!! The viewwas gorgeous and was amazing. Hikers beware! There is a LOT of mud on the trail so bring a pair of boots! The trail is a bit steep and overcrowded. Great place!
This only takes 2 hours round trip for capable adults. Not sure why people are saying it takes 3 or 4 hours?? Took us 2:15 with a long stop to see the view at the very top, and another stop for a granola bar along the way. Anyway, don't let the log crossing at the beginning scare you, it's super easy after that. Absolutely beautiful trail, with the creek and little falls all along the way, and the cliff falls at the end are amazing! Definitely worth the hike.
Raven cliff falls is one of the gems... it suits all kinds of people as the trail is not a difficult one. Most importantly the trail is next to the creek with lots of options to have some fun in the water all along. At the end of the falls, for most scenic view of the falls climb on to the left side of the falls to go up and you can see the actual falls. This is the best view of the falls much much better than the below...
I think this trail is my new favorite in GA. The waterfall is nice, but I have seen better. But the trail to the falls is spectacular. There are sections that are high above the stream and the view is breathtaking. The last picture is a log you have to walk across toward the beginning of the trail, so beware. Parking is $5 cash, placed in an envelope in a drop box and placing the receipt on your dashboard, unless you have a Federal park pass.
This is a moderate 2 hours in and 2 hrs out hike depending on how fast you walk. The trail is following the creek. There are some steep areas so be careful. Better come after rainy days and water flow is much nicer. Its popular with hikers and parking is limited too. Waterfalls coming in between the crack of high cliffs. Very scenic too.
