This is a nice state park with campgrounds, lots of trails and wonderful views. The layout is pretty straightforward, and the campground can get full so consider advanced reservations. The hiking trails are numerous and awesome, with some nice hikes and great views of the forest or the river depending on which ones you take. This is a nice, underrated state park.

The sunset was beautiful along the Deschutes River. (We followed the trail on the map to walk down to the water.) *see photos.

Their showers/bathrooms were clean and had a large private one in the back of the building. That is perfect for a family with small kids. (*see photo)

Their spaces are really close together, so that is why I deducted a star, but we were just passing through and were happy to have found a place that wasn't closed for the season. The price was also very reasonable.

If we're ever back in that area, needing a spot for a night, we would return for another stay.

Camped here for close to 40 years. Started way before there was even a sign on 97. Have always loved this park. We spent 7 years hosting here after we retired. Never got tired of things to do. Sadly health forced us to quit in 2017.
