From Chiloquin travel five miles east on Sprague River Road to the Williamson River Road. Follow this road 20 miles northeast to Road 4648. Follow 4648 half a mile north to the campground.
It is so cool the way the river just erupts out of the ground from the mountain. It is so peaceful and there was something magical about it. Looking over the meadow below, it was easy for me to envision a time past and understand how important a place it must have been to the first peoples of the land.
A very cool little area, the way the headwaters come rushing out of the ground is pretty awesome and definitely something you don't see every day! Be wary of the times you come here and be aware of any signage posted near the trailhead -- there were bears roaming around the last time I was here!
Plenty of parking and the short trail to the river was paved. The view is okay but nothing to write home about.
The area is still beautiful and well maintained. However, the viewpoint is completely overgrown and you can’t see anything. Only the chipmunks begging for food stayed the same. Very disappointing!
