Mill Creek Recreation Area is an ideal family campground located on Berlin Lake in northeastern Ohio. Visitors enjoy boating, fishing, hunting, picnicking and camping.
The lake is a popular location for boating, swimming, and fishing. Berlin Lake is renowned for its excellent walleye fishing. It is one of the few area lakes where natural reproduction of the species occurs. Anglers will also find largemouth and smallmouth bass, muskie, crappie and bluegill. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources manages over 6,800 acres of project lands for public hunting and wildlife management purposes. Small game species are found in abundance and hunting areas can be easily accessed.
Mill Creek Campground offers 295 sites ranging from wooded water sites to grassy sites in the sun. Over 100 sites have electric hookups. Other amenities include a dump station, showers, flush restrooms, a boat ramp, playgrounds, and a volleyball court.
Berlin Lake is situated on the Mahoning River, where it covers 3,590 acres and offers 70 miles of shoreline. The banks of the lake are gently to moderately sloped, allowing for easy access. Beech and maple trees cover the area, offering shade and beautiful fall color.
A variety of wildlife makes its home around the lake. Visitors delight in viewing nesting ospreys. Bald eagles can occasionally be seen in the area as well.
Noah's Lost Ark Animal Sanctuary is just one mile south. The sanctuary is home to a large variety of big and small cats, including lions, tigers, cougars, leopards, bobcats and lynx.
Wolves, coyotes, fox, bears, camels, zebras and primates also live in Noah's Lost Ark. Children love the sanctuary's petting zoo and educational tours.
From I-76, take Exit 54 and go south 5.5 miles on State Route 534 to U.S. Route 224 in Berlin Center. Turn right (west) onto U.S. Route 224 and go about 2 miles to Bedell Road. Turn left (south) on Bedell Road and go about 3/4 of a mile to the campground.
We have our family reunion here, this is the first year we were able to camp with the rest of them, and we loved it. Camp sites are clean, bathrooms and shower house are nice. And the fact that we could just to the lake and swim was definitely nice. Not to mention the park employees are really nice and it's monitored frequently by them and the sheriff's.
Stayed here with our overlanding group. The campground had just completed clean up from a storm the day before and did a great job. There was really no evidence of the damage and power had been restored to the facilities. The reatrooms were clean. The sites are spacious. The only complaint was that the grass was really high. Understandable that they hadn't gotten to it because of the storm though. Overall we had a really good time and I would not heaitate to stay here again.
Very disappointed..was there for 4 days. No trash puck up.. showers & bathrooms was only by the store. Store had very rude lady working there.. The lady that I paid talk to at the main gate didn't know want was going on told me the wrong day for fireworks & gave me wrong directions to my site.. Are friends was told a different day for fireworks & there directions was not right.. Are site was 810 -811.. for the price we paid it was very sad. I wrote on here yesterday but I see my review was removed..
Overall it's a decent campground. There is some privacy and space between sites in the oak camping area. Most people are friendly. The lake is really nice.
I just didn't like that there's a lot of traffic constantly even at 10:00 p.m. and then in the early morning. The one night there were some very loud people that kept us up till around 2:00 a.m. but they took my concern seriously when I reported it. It is a little noisy in general. The bathrooms and showers are not the cleanest.
The park rangers do drive around which is nice.
Was a wonderful weekend getaway. The lake, the wild life, an of course the location! It was just absolutely beautiful. Everyone we came in contact with was helpful an friendly If I could give 10 starts I would. Definitely will be returning next year an every year after. The only down side was the shower houses an restrooms. They definitely could use a big upgrade!
