This recreation area is part of Bowman Haley Lake
Very well kept camping and picnic areas, always mowed and trash free.
We boondocked here for two nights during probably the worst time in North Dakota. Our second day there, the high was 104°. The water level was very low, and the blue-green algae meant that our dogs couldn't go near it, and the smell was formidable. There had been a fire the week before that had burned up 200+ acres on the hill behind us. The amount of smoke in the air was pretty intense. We were parked right on the water, and we had the place to ourselves. I'll bet it's beautiful during the spring and fall, but we were pretty happy to leave.
Went there today 7/27/2022
and realized I was the only one there. Lake is green and smells. It is surrounded by farmland so I'm sure it gets all the herbicide run off. I bet it's a great place to fish in the fall or winter ice fishing
Beautiful quiet dam with good fishing, the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it turns green every year.
