The Mill Creek Campground is a fantastic place to stop and have a picnic, talk a walk, listen to the creek or set up camp for a few days. Located roughly 30 miles south of Battle Mountain, Nevada, the Mill Creek Campground strikes a nice balance of being immersed in the outdoors but is close enough to town if you forgot something for the camping trip. The Mill Creek site was originally a CCC camp, Civilian Conservation Corps, which was a public work relief program developed to help with unemployed during the Great Depression. Through the course of its nine year in operation, 3 million young men participated in the CCC program, which provided them with shelter, clothing and food, together with a wage of $30 per month. The Mill Creek CCC Camp was eventually shut down when the program ended and was soon after identified as a recreation area and has been that way ever since. Today, roughly 30,000 people visit the Mill Creek Campground each year to enjoy the natural beauty and proximity to other incredible recreation activities available in northeastern Nevada.

Nice, sheltered campground that doesn't charge a fee. Has vault restrooms and trash pick up. One nice feature is the small babbling stream that flows through the middle of the campground. I was there in late March so I am sure it will a lot nicer "greened up".
If your in the area on a cool evening this is a nice stop. The camp sites looks to have completely burned about ten years ago. Just small trees and a beautiful stream that is on the path to recovery. There are bathrooms and camp spots along the stream.
Beautiful campground right on the creek deep in the canyon. Nice campsites with concrete picnic tables, trash cans, fire pits, and barbeques. Vault toilets and no water. There are plenty of tables and campsites. Some of the campsites are shaded by trees, but it looks like a fire destroyed most of the larger trees here. Several new trees have been planted recently, which means this place will be cool and shady in another ten or fifteen years. Still gorgeous right now! I'm the only one here! If there were potable water and a bridge across the creek it would be five stars.
