Want to see the views? Want to see the colors? Want to cool off a little at high elevation? Want a gorgeous drive away from SCL? This is your place! Hit it from the Payton end... or from the Nephi end... either way, you can’t lose. Make sure to drive safely, those corners can get you in a hurry and watch out for livestock... hit a cow in your Prius, it won’t end well.
Beautiful, nice places to pull over and take short hikes.
Traffic was light, even at height of fall colors.
Seems to attract the kind of people we like to encounter. Many short, candid conversations, smiles exchanged.
Take light jacket- easy 20 drop in temps from valley.
This is one of the most beautiful drives! There are some great hikes on the way and a few camping spots - although we wish there were a few more. We love our Payson Canyon and this beautiful area!
This scenic road is what got us extremely into researching alternative scenic routes to take instead of using larger freeways. It's beautiful especially when everything is covered in the snow. They did a very good job plowing the roads to keep them clear. We had to turn around halfway because only a portion of the road was opened.
I really enjoyed this inspiring hour and a half drive around Mt. Nebo, located just outside nephi utah. You can certainly count on seeing deer, cows, and maybe some wild turkey. That being said, I highly recommend traveling with day light. ( most the cows are black)
Cell service leaves shortly after hitting the campground area but returns when you summit higher onto the Mt.
The Elevation goes up a little higher than 9k feet at the summit.
Dog friendly, many trails and great overlook points. Bring your own water, there are a few restrooms near the camping area.
