Hiked by walking the road/loop around Dawson Lake today, the trails on the Southwest end were too muddy. This is a really pretty hike when the trees are green. The restaurant is closed during the winter months. A nice loop if you prefer pavement instead of dirt trails for mobility concerns.

We really enjoyed our stay last weekend. We hadn't been there since pre-Covid & were surprised to find the new hitching posts. The two reasons I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is because most of the highlines are in full sun a majority of the time (at least this time of year) & the width between posts is barely enough for 2 horses. Thankfully the park was not full & our group could move our horses around since it was very hot. I also would not put the horse campground water in our trailer. It's loaded with rust sediment. Bring an extra tank of water for your trailer and/or horses if they are fussy about water.

We LOVE that this park has electricity! The site host, Rick, has been there a long time & is wonderful to deal with. All the staff we encountered were very pleasant. We also love that the dump stations are easily accessible & very convenient as you're leaving the park. The trails were in excellent condition at the time of this writing as well. 🐎

This is a really pretty and peaceful place! It was not too busy, and I was able to enjoy a small hike. There are lots of trails according to signage.

Such a nice State Park! Very well upkeep, clean, and beautiful! Restrooms are very clean! Nice lake to kayak or canoe. Decent fishing for Bluegill, catfish, and bass. Very nice restaurant on site with outdoor seating if desired. Lots of beautiful old Oak trees And Cypress trees.
