This campground is a great place to rest after floating the Clark Fork River or just sit and enjoy the river go by. It has a large area for picnics, pull-through sites for recreational vehicles, horse camping facilities, and a carry-down boat launch - something for everyone! A picnic table and fire ring is available at each campsite. Host on site. Carry-down boat launch, volleyball net, horseshoe pits, and sandbox are available.
This campground is located mid-way between the towns of Superior and St .Regis. From Interstate 90, take exit #43 at Dry Creek, travel west 3.2 miles on the north frontage road, or take exit #37 and travel 2.8 miles east.
Closes September 20.
First come, first served. No reservations taken.
Very well-maintained campground just far enough off the highway. I was driving across the country and starting to get sleepy before reaching Missoula. Was happy to easily find a site with river access.
This campground sits just off I 90 along the shores of the Clark River. It is s a pretty good single night campground when you are headed somewhere and just need a quick pull off stop - Better than a Walmart! We were en-route to a longer trip and used it for one night for exactly that purpose. It is a medium size campground with 27 sites. Some are large pull through sites that would accommodate bigger RVs like the site we chose, site #5. Each Site had a picnic table and fire ring. There are pit toilets and drinking water available. There are no hookups, no showers, no dump station. There is an area to hand launch small boats. We walked across the gravel bar area to the east and were able to sit in a more private area along the river shore. A nice spot to take a break from driving and cool off in the water. I wouldn't stay here for an extended vacation, but it served our purpose well.
Not so good.
Yes it’s on the river.
It’s also on the interstate.
It’s also on the main railroad route.
They also don’t honor reservations.
All in all we were less than impressed.
We ended up only staying one of the two nights we paid for after the sheriff had to be called in to settle site occupation disputes.
The best part? The sheriff’s department put some of the people in the wrong sites to begin with.
We did get to meet an angry Canadian though.
It was definitely not the relaxing weekend we were hoping for.
