Well it is just a rock but it does a good balancing act. Quick detour from the highway and you can view this unique formation. Take a couple of images and you are on your way. Although I liked the view from the highway, a closure inspection is possible.

It’s not the greatest rock formation ever but it’s definitely worth the stop to check it out. Cheers

If you are going to drive through Monument Valley and go back, this is the place to turn around. Its worth getting to here to take pictures, not just of Mexican Hat, but also of valley of the gods.

Mexican Hat itself is a wonder of nature. How the rocks ended up like this is a miracle of erosion. It must have taken thousands of years for the rocks to get like this. You can get good pictures from the road, but there are also walks that get you much closer, so you can get some idea just how big the thing is.

Well worth a visit.

Quite a few dirt roads to drive close to and round it. Nothing official and nobody around, just something fun to take a picture of. I would only come here if I were driving through or visiting Goosenecks State Park or Valley of the Gods.

Nice place to visit when going to Monument Valley. No official entry. There is also a small hike we took to almost half of the mexican hat mountain. The view was great from there! Looks beautiful with the valley behind and river flowing from nearby. Would not recommend to non-hikers.
