About Campground

Camp along the shores of Wide Hollow Reservoir, or rent a canoe, kayak or paddleboard on its clear waters. Hike along park nature trails through a petrified forest, but remember to take only photographs. Some say the petrified wood is haunted and removing a piece brings the taker nothing but bad luck.

Directions

Approximately 257 miles south of Salt Lake City. Two miles northwest of the town of Escalante off State Route 12.

This new campground is very nice and directly located at the Wide Hollow Reservoir. The sites are spacious and equipped with a covered picknic table with benches and a fire place. We choose a full hookup site. The bathroom as well as the shower were very clean.

Very nice and well maintained State Park. Excellent view of the lake, with lots of wild geese squawking in the Fall. Interior roads were tight for our 40-ft diesel pusher, with numerous small boulders lining the road as hazards. We made it in and out without body damage to our RV, but it could have easily turned out different. We had to use most of our lumber to level up.
