I visited there due to the fact that I have to dump black & grey water from our RV and refill fresh water. My brother and sister shown interest in taxidermied animals, and owner saw that. He explained kindly and proposed that take a picture with fur! So we got a few pictures and they had a good experience at here! I cannot forget your favor. Thanks!

We were looking forward to our breakfast stop here after reading one favorable review. What we found was a bit chilly however, inside the warmish building. We walked in and were met with the owner's back - she did not turn around for some time and we felt like we were intruding. We were the only patrons. When deciding where to sit, at no welcome of her, we asked if we could sit in the sunny main room to which her reply was "Probably not." The chilly service continued along an unwelcome vein as she took our orders and we ordered coffee. She gave us empty coffee cups but the coffee was not poured until some 10-15 minutes later when our food was served. At that time we asked for water for the rest of our party who had not ordered coffee. After delivering our food, she tried to make nice small talk but our nice experience was lost by that time. She remained in close proximity, occupied on her phone, during our meal. She never offered coffee refills. The food was ok - bread was tough (having been microwaved to defrost before toasting), potatoes a bit raw and the eggs greasy. We will not be returning.

(PS I saw your response - that must of been another party because we did talk in full sentences to your back as you sat staring at your screen on the counter. Sorry if my review ruffled your feathers but as a 45 year resident of Alaska, I feel very strongly about good customer service that reflects our state well. And seriously, waiting 10-15 minutes for a cup of coffee? We must've visited on a bad day.)

The lovely hostess Maybell made us feel at home. We stayed in a private dog friendly cabin. We skijored miles of groomed trails. Came back to a wonderful home cooked meal, great fresh salads. Then we soaked in the outdoor hot tub. Keep your eyes open for Northern Lights. She offers beer or wine and even fresh eggs from her happy chickens. They also have a big Bluegrass festival there in May.

We stopped here on our travels from NM to Anchorage. This was the best food on the 4K mile journey. It's been a few weeks since we visited, but we still talk about their delicious fresh eggs, potatoes, bacon and bread. Part of the cabin was built in the early 1900's and had a very homey feel. The rest is new, but filled with gorgeous trophies of wildlife. We plan on making a trip back up from anchorage, just to get breakfast one day!!!

The lodge is gone (fire), but they now have a campground. Nice spots off the river. Water and electricity available. We paid $20 for a dry site on the river!
