About Campground

If a distinctive camping experience is what you’re looking for, Mama Gertie’s is the place for you! Carved into the side of a mountain, we offer stepped sites with campground views on our lower tiers. Our top or 3rd tier offers stunning vistas. Four sites boast private decks with a swing, cafe table and fire pit. These sites fill up quickly as you can imagine!

Most of our sites offer full hookups and 30/50 amps. We do have several water and electric only sites that are perfect for pop-ups, tear drops and more petite campers. These sites are located a short walk to our clean and well maintained bathroom facilities.

We cater to motorhomes, 5th wheels and travel trailers including pop-ups and micro campers! In addition, we are renovating a portion of our campground. Stay tuned for new lodging offerings coming late summer 2023!

We are conveniently located near many local recreational options, right in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Check out the local farmer’s markets, art galleries, craft breweries or shop to your heart’s content at one of the many antique and specialty stores in the area. Tour the famous Biltmore Estate. Cruise the Blue Ridge Parkway. Visit Black Mountain and Montreat. After a full day, return to the serenity that is Mama Gertie’s and enjoy a campfire with friends and family.

We’re open year round, so make your reservation today!

The communication with the owners was very good, texting info about repairs and code changes. The sites were clean and attractive. The location convenient and beautiful. We wish the grass and weeds (growing thru the landscape rocks) had been better maintained at the sites and along the roadside. On the upper tier, tree growth prevent a nice view of the mountains at half the sites - don't know if that's something Gertie's can control. Additionally, on the upper tier, internet wasn't reliable at all.

We'll return! The nights were peaceful and relaxing, the atmosphere very chill, and the starry skies were unobstructed.

We had a great visit here! Our deck site was gorgeous and we felt like we had a lot of privacy which was nice. The bathrooms were spotless and I say that as someone who generally prefers our RV shower. After checking them out I was happy to have the extra room and used them several times. Staff was nice and guided us up and down to the third tier when we had to unhook and drive into town for a new tire. It was greatly appreciated as our coach is 45’. I was a little disappointed that we couldn’t stake in our pop up tent during our stay to cover our chairs etc. when it rained and add a little more shade but I assume there is a good reason for this and we did just fine. Am disappointed to read about the hard time people had with refunds. Luckily we didn’t need that and were able to get there and have the best time.

VERY clean. Well designed restroom/individual private showers with locking door/laundry room. Beautiful landscape. Good use of land. Friendly customer service with escort to site for best path and parking. Wish we could have stayed longer!!! 😊👍👍

This campground is definitely on a mountain and very tight in spots. We wanted a top view but apparently because we needed to stay hooked up for the night, just doing an overnight, we had get on tier two for the highest.

Not real impressed with the campground. For the price the only way to get a view is to get the top sites or walk. I have a bad knee so walking up a straight up hill could not be done.

We were on the end site 22 I believe and there were 2 more on the same hill and it was very close. The good thing about out site was we had Boone to the right of us only the traffic going up the hill. The office did not make chitchat with my husband very professional, maybe too professional?

I do think it is way over priced for what you get.

Not real friendly people.

We stayed here thinking we would get some kind of a view but nothing.

So if you want to four wheel with your camper up the mountain for 200.00 bucks this might be for you.

We stayed 3 nights at Mama Gerties and had a great experience! SUPER clean bath houses with hot showers and coin laundry. Location was great too (close enough to downtown if you are wanting to explore some). We stayed in site 21 with our camper van and definitely hope to return. Friendly staff and nice chill campground!
