Whether you're looking for a peaceful weekend in the mountains or an extended stay in western North Carolina, this KOA is the perfect choice. Head for the city sights of historic Asheville (just 14 minutes away) and tour the famous Biltmore House or shop at the brand-new outlet mall. Take a scenic drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway and enjoy the breathtaking views. Or you can hike one of the numerous trails to check out the views and even waterfalls. Perhaps you'd prefer to simply relax and stay at your campsite and fish in one of KOA's two lakes. Your kids will love tubing and splashing in the Swannanoa River, which winds its way through the middle of the campground. Other on-site activities include paddleboats, a swimming pool, volleyball, basketball, horseshoes and cornhole. Pool: May 6 - September 11. Max pull thru: 70 feet.

This is a great KOA Campground. The grounds are very well kept up. The staff is amazing and so helpful. We were having issues with our hot water heater and they were right there to lend a hand and to give us a name of someone local to come fix it. The bath house at the main building is dated, but clean. The WiFi worked great since I work remotely. They were very quick to clean and turnover sites.
The campground is nice. However, DON’T get a spot in the front left lot. We were in A5 and the spots are so freaking close that you’re literally walking through your neighbors campsite, while they’re cooking on the grill, to hook up your sewer pipes. Seriously, the grill is three feet away from the sewer hook-ups. Definitely will not stay in the cheap lot again.
Our cabin is adorable and a perfect place to camp out for a few days. 20 minutes to Asheville and the nearby town has great places to get food and drink. Couldn't ask for more! The lake is pretty too.
Asheville East is one of my favorite KOA campgrounds. There are campsites around the lake and riverside. The staff is friendly and helpful. The camp store is well stocked with camping gear. There are gas stations, grocery stores and restaurants nearby. Black mountain has a few nice restaurants too!
A very nice RV campground. It's clean, scenic, and the staff are very friendly. We stayed for a week in the winter and it was nice and quiet except for some highway traffic noise as we were in a site near the highway. There are many sites further from the highway, and I would take those in the future. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars are the showers. They were clean, but the shower curtain was so light and flimsy that the water was not contained and sprayed all over the little anti-room where you would normally keep towels, dry clothes, etc. Everything was wet after the shower! In addition to that, the shower heads were fixed and sprayed so high that you really couldn't properly rinse the soap off your body. I would suggest that the owner, or manager, take a shower themselves and see if they couldn't come up with a better solution.
