LaTryle was extremely helpful and accommodating. We stayed 2 nights in a lovely shaded spot, just a short walk to the Chama River that circles around the edge of this campground. It is a family, kid, and pet friendly place; we really enjoyed all of the children playing, folks fishing, and families gathering. The weather was wonderful and it was peaceful at night.
5, 4, 3...Stars, because, I will get to that in a sec. This is a beautiful, well maintained, good enough location and nicely staffed park! A 5 Star start to a place I recommend! However, the WiFi is junk. I assumed it was usable for low requirement workloads the week I was there, but it is not even surf-able. Minus 1 Star. To their credit, they are installing fiber throughout the park, which will be awesome, but for now, do not count on it. The second Star deduction is the most troubling, to me. When I reserved in June for an August stay, my credit card was charged. Okay, I will keep that in mind. Fast forward to check-in. They claim I have not paid. So I am charged again. I have paid twice, for the same exact stay. After the next three days of back and forth, including talking with my credit card provider, Little Creel still insisted I prove my card was charged! Have you ever heard of that? I took photos of and provided cropped relevant sections of statements, but LC made them suspect. All this after a search ON THEIR COMPUTER, found the charge! Fast forward again to about a month after the stay, including an ignored email, a few phone calls, then one last opportunity, I receive the credit. Nobody should ever have to go through something like this from a reputable business. It will forever tarnish my experience, and I will never understand why. But again, despite all that, I would recommend this park.
I would like to start off by our camp site was really beautiful we got a pull thru site by the river. We were here for a wedding and wanted the wedding party to go by for dinner. We were told we could only have two vehicles at our site so we wouldn't be able to, plus it was $5 a day for a pass each vehicle. We paid for a late checkout so we could make some brunch for some family that paid the $5 to come in. I'm not sure if it was the owner or a worker but as the time got closer for us to leave he was standing there watching us the whole time tear down camp and when we finally pulled out of the spot, yes we were out of there by 1:12 when the late check out was at 1 (our fault for getting out of there a little later than we were supposed to be). I was confused on where to leave because the lady at the front desk drew out on the map where I was to go through but the road was closed off and said do not enter, so I drove over to the guy staring at us the whole time and asked him if we could go out through another area since we couldn't where she had told me to. He starts off right away by telling us were not supposed to be back in that area, they don't like people driving back there. He said you're supposed to back up out of your site and I told him that I couldn't because the people next to us their vehicle was in the way and he said you could have knocked on their door and asked them to move it or came and got me and I would have made them move it. I was confused at this point because the lady at the front desk told us differently and I couldn't go out through where she said because it was blocked off. Plus on top of that we paid for a pull thru site, we shouldn't have had to back out of there. He was rude the whole time talking to us. I even showed him the map where she drew where we needed to drive to and he still insisted that I was in the wrong. Not sure if we were treated differently because we were locals compared to the other comments on here but we will not be returning to this campground.
Not hunter friendly! Management was very rude and accusatory towards my military veteran husband. There was a miscommunication of a question we asked. The "owner" was very rude and was very adamant that my husband was lying and "doing what he wanted too". He wouldn't listen to my husband's explanation, just kept saying he didn't believe him and that he was lying. They made no attempt to resolve the issue and kicked us out of the RV park and would not refund us for 4 nights and 4 days of parking. When I made the reservation for 6 nights, there was no mention or charge for parking.
They charged us an extra $89.00 when we checked in for parking. Also, the bathhouse is permanently closed. There was no mention of this on their website. This RV park in the past before the new owners was always full of hunters. Not anymore, which is sad because Chama has a lot of hunting in the surrounding area. Their loss.
