About Campground

Leesylvania is nestled along the tidal shores of the historic Potomac River. Native Americans lived on this land for thousands of years. Capt. John Smith visited the area in 1608 on his voyage of discovery. Listed on the National Register of Historic Landmarks, Leesylvania offers many land and water activities, including hiking, picnicking, fishing, and boating. A universally accessible fishing pier, playground, boat launch, boat storage area, snack bar and store, visitor center, and gift shop are available. A 20-station fitness trail and canoe and kayak rentals also are available.

Directions

Leesylvania State Park is in the southeast area of Prince William County, about 25 miles from Washington, D.C., and Fredericksburg. From I-95, take Rippon Landing Exit 156, then go east on Dale Blvd. to U.S. 1. Jefferson Davis Hwy. Turn right on Jefferson Davis Hwy., and then turn left onto Neabsco Rd. I was there for the first time. Nice, quiet, beautiful place to be amid the beautiful nature, the great combination of water, woods, trials and sky. I would recommend to visit alone or with family and friends. Beautifully preserved State Park. Thank you to all volunteers.

Enjoyed the place for a bit in the afternoon before it got crowded again. Nice place to bring your dog also. Water was very refreshing and not too cold Mid Aug. Kids also had fun and played with the sand. Had to put 4 stars because unfortunately people left lots of trash behind and when it got crowded some didn’t respect your little space. Didn’t observe much security going around. Lots of boats and that looked really fun!

This was a nice park a short ways out of the city; the day we went was scorchingly hot; it was clear the park is used by many many people . It was sad to see so much trash but it’s part of a “heavy use” area; looking out on the water was simply beautiful; I wouldn’t get in the water or eat the fish here and was surprised at the number of people in the water. I was glad to see signs posted about the dangers of eating your catch in the waters. Wish we had more time, but it was a nice visit, very nice education center for children or for people interested in learning more about the area - we would go back again but likely in the early early morning or evening

Great park for small hikes. Went on a rainy winter day, it was slippery yet beautiful. Trails are well marked. Plenty of parking.
