We went to Bull Run Regional Park for the festival of lights around Christmas. The light displays were extensive and impressive. It is definitely worth seeing. This WAY better than the Lantern Festival at Tysons.
A couple of nits, the traffic getting into and out was extraordinary. COME EARLY! Right after dark. You come after dinner out the traffic will be insane.
A cost of $40 a car seems like a lot. But that did not seem to deter people.

What an amazing Christmas light show to see with family and friends. I bought my ticket online, which made the process easier. The best part is your not rushing to get through the field of amazing light show. At the end of this attraction you have a fair with rides and funnel cake and much more. Enjoy 💕
The Festival of the lights was awesome. The staff were great and my family and I had an overall amazing experience! It was a very foggy day and night so visibility wasn’t the best but Rudolph led the way!
We went for the beautiful Christmas lights drive. We drove through this special event in awe. It was SOOOO well done! Definitely an awesome Christmas show for the entire family. After you're through the lights there's a little carnival area with camel rides, small rides and carnival games with fair foods too!
Recently stayed at the campground for five days.
I really wanted to love this park but the adjacent shooting range was so annoying. Non-stop shooting from the second it opens until it closes. I'm a gun owner and I hated it.
Sites can be tight, I am glad that we picked one that looked like it had a little extra room.
We had issues with the water pump 'diffuser' where it would drop and discharge water at an alarming rate and this happened several times. Thank goodness it happened when we were there. It also happened to the folks next to us as well. The office personnel said that they know about the issue but can't seem to get it resolved.
The bathhouse was clean with good water pressure.
We found the reservation process to be a bit odd as we were unable to book as far in advance as we had planned. Also, the check in procedure asked more questions of any campground that we have ever we stayed in.
Would love to go back as the location is convenient but not with the non-stop shooting noise.
