I really like this place! I arrived late in the day and that night experienced bad weather which was not to let up for two more days. So I only spent one night and wasn’t able to really take advantage of the surroundings.

The lake looked beautiful, the land was picturesque, fire pits were handy, people could picnic by the water at covered picnic tables, and people could camp in groups together instead of next to one another. I am told that this will change next year and there will be 15 spaces on a first come first serve basis.

In the area I was in were dumpsters, an outhouse, and a water spigot, all in really great shape. I did not use any of these facilities. Verizon didn’t work well here and Cricket (AT&T) was just OK.

Had a hard time finding this place via Google Maps looking for Jumbo. It did not pop up on any of the Free camping sites I use. Thank you to the gentleman at the previous dump I was at for being willing to share this unique and still FREE state-run camping area in Colorado!
