About Campground

Dam Complex is a part of the Coralville Lake Project near Iowa City. The area offers camping, hiking, lake and river fishing, boating, swimming and water skiing, disc golf and picnicking. Natural Features: Coralville Lake sits along the Iowa River. The environment is wooded with mixed hardwood and pine forests. The lake and surrounding land is managed for wildlife like the eastern bluebird, box turtles, hawks and whitetail deer. Recreation: Visitors enjoy Coralville Lake for boating, fishing, swimming and waterskiing. Anglers will find large and smallmouth bass, crappie, walleye and catfish Several trails are within the Dam Complex, including Squire Point, Woodpecker Trail, Tailwater Riverwalk and barrier-free Veterans Trail. The Devonian Fossil Gorge is just below the dam, offering a unique opportunity to explore a 375-million-year old sea floor and discover fossil remains of sea life that once inhabited this tropical marine environment. Twenty Discovery Points can be found throughout the site. Turkey Creek Disc Golf Course is located in the Dam Complex and offers 18 partially wooded and open holes. Facilities: The Dam Complex is made up of five campgrounds, including Cottonwood, Linder Point, Tailwater East, Tailwater West and West Overlook. A total of 183 campsites are offered. Customers can choose from walk-in tent sites to full service sites which have electricity, water and sewer hookups. Nearby Attractions: Iowa City/Coralville offers the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, University of Iowa campus, hospital and clinics, numerous restaurants and shops as well as Coral Ridge Mall. Cedar Rapids has wonderful cultural, historic and ethnic attractions such as The National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library and is the home of the Kernels Professional Baseball Club. West Branch boasts the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site and Presidential Library/Museum. At Amana Colonies visit seven quaint villages with outstanding restaurants, wineries, historic sites and specialty shops. Kalona is known as the "Quilt Capital of Iowa" and is home to an Old Order Amish and Mennonite Community.

From Iowa City, Iowa, take I-80 to exit 244. Turn north on Dubuque Street and continue 3 miles to West Overlook Road. Turn right and proceed 1/4 mile to the park entrance.
