Wow! I was not expecting such a long hike, but it was worth it to see that gorgeous blue glacier.
Fairly easy trail and not crowded. Great views once you get out of the forest.
Easy flat 5 mile hike to the place where the river restrictions further access. We climbed up the hill at the end to see the glacier and that was good enough for us, but I believe you can hike closer on a more advanced trail.
I thought it would be important to share that this is pretty much a 10-mile hike round trip. Right off the bat, I wanted to say that because I looked at a couple of these Google reviews and all I saw was the number five and I was thinking that it was a 5 mi hike round trip. I did not have a pedometer with me as I was saving juice in my phone and when it just seemed like two and a half miles one way was so so very long, I got to the glacier area and asked somebody and indeed I had walked for 5 mi which is kind of unheard of for me. It was a victory for sure and well worth it. This was a beautiful hike through three different types of forests. It just seems to go forever and ever. But like I said, well worth it. I had lunch out on what used to be the glacier looking up towards the glacier. I will not spoil it for you by posting pictures of the actual glacier up close. That you need to see for yourself 🤩
